Visiting Professor to Launch Euro Crisis BookImage of David Marsh's new book

A Visiting Professor of the Department of Politics will launch his new book on the Euro crisis through the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) next week.

David Marsh CBE, Chairman of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) and former Financial Times journalist, will launch his book, Europe’s Deadlock: How the Crisis could be solved – and why it won’t happen, at St George’s Church Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 20 November at 6pm.

Professor Simon Bulmer, Professor of European Politics and Head of the Department of Politics, and Lucia Quaglia, Professor of Political Science at the University of York, will give their reactions to the book and then members of the audience will have their chance to ask David questions.

In this fiercely argued book, David Marsh explains why five years of continuous crisis management have not only failed to resolve the Eurozone's problems but actually made things worse. He argues that constructive dialogue has collapsed as EU decision-making descends into a state of terrified paralysis, and that although there are potential paths out of the impasse, all are blocked by indecision and timidity at the top.
