With the UK steel industry bidding to achieve carbon-neutral by 2040, Prof. Mark Rainforth, Previous Principal Investigator for Royce at the University of Sheffield, details how the Universities of Sheffield, Swansea, and Warwick, are collaborating with steel companies to develop strategies to ensure this becomes a reality. 


For Additive Manufacturing to realise its full potential, high cost metal powders must undergo a step-change reduction in price, which will be achieved by recycling, down cycling, and new primary metal production processes.
