Introducing the new Sociological Studies Research Blog

We are very excited to announce the launch of the new Sociological Studies Research Blog.

The blog has been created to reflect our commitment to interdisciplinary research, since our members of staff and postgraduate students participate within a wide range of interdisciplinary research, both based within the Department of Sociological Studies and across the University of Sheffield.

The Sociological Studies Research Blog

Professor Sarah Neal, Director of Research for the Department, said: “We have recently launched the departmental blog as an exciting and accessible way to make our research activities and achievements easily and publicly visible.

“The department blog aims to effectively communicate and engage wider academic and non-academic audiences in the timely and innovative research work that we are doing in Sociological Studies.”

The blog recently launched with a debut post by Professor Kate Reed, titled ‘Rethinking community across life and loss’. The post looks at Kate’s major Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded project into baby loss, and seeks to analyse the beneficial role that social research can actually play in both uncovering hidden communities and creating new ones.

Professor Sarah Neal added: “Initially, we will publish a new blog entry every two months and, in the longer term, intend to have monthly posting updates. Past blogs will be archived and available.”
