Arrival and registration

(30 minutes)

Arrive at The Wave for registration. Help yourself to tea and coffee and chat to our staff and current students before our first session.

Welcome to the school and course talk

(60 minutes)

In our first session, a member of academic staff from our sociology team will give an overview of our school and detailed talk on the sociology programmes we have to offer. There will be an opportunity to ask questions to our panel of staff and current students.

Meet the school

(20 minutes)

Take some time to informally chat to academics, current students and your potential future course mates.

Taster seminar for students

(45 minutes. At the same time as the parent/supporter session)

Applicants will experience a taste of what our seminars have to offer.

You'll take part in one taster seminar related to your chosen course to give you a real taste of what it's like to be a student in the School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations.

There will be a focus on key sociological topics related to digital media, designed to ignite your curiosity and encourage you to exchange ideas and have thought provoking discussions with fellow participants.

Parents and supporters question and answer session

(45 minutes)

While applicants are in the taster seminar, parents, carers and guests have the opportunity ask questions and speak to current students and staff.

For the rest of the day, you'll have time to take part in the central tours and exhibitions detailed in our offer holder day guide.

How to book

Book your place using the link in your invitation email.

When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at the school activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department can't guarantee that we'll be able to accommodate any additional unbooked visitors.

However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the school activities are running.
