Freedom is a Place: Honoring Ruth Wilson Gilmore

Professor AbdouMaliq Simone was honored to be invited to a day celebrating the scholarship, writing and organizing of Ruth Wilson Gilmore, sponsored by Queens College and the Antipode Foundation and Program in Black Studies, Queens University.

Friday itinerary for Freedom is a Place

The programme brought together the most distinguished of writers on Black Studies, including Katherine McKittrick, Nik Theodore, Cindi Katz, Simone Browne, Ananya Roy, Naomi Murakawa, Naomi Paik, Vanessa Thompson, Brenna Bhandar, Alberto Toscano, Robin D.G. Kelley, Mariame Kaba and AbdouMaliq Simone.

Maliq was asked to contribute to a session on ‘Conversations on Storytelling’ and the programme was closed by Ruth Wilson Gilmore herself.
