Vidhya Chittoor Viswanathan presented her results at the IWA Conference in San Francisco, USA, September 2014

Vidhya Chittoor Viswanathan was one of our fellows, developing her research at the EAWAG Research Centre in Zurich, Switzerland.

Vidhya gave a presentation titled “Impact Of Restoration On River Water Quality In A Pre-alpine Catchment-Diurnal And Seasonal Study”.

River restoration projects aiming to restore the natural meanders in rivers by removing embankments and other unnatural alterations are becoming popular in many parts of the world as a positive hydro morphological flood protection measure. Vidhya’s talk was focused on explaining how a combined multi tracer approach helps towards a better understanding of the impact of restoration measures on the water quality of a river reach and leads to further questions on the extent and points within the catchment where the restoration measures could be most effective.

The 13th IWA Special Conference on Watershed and River Basin Management was held 9-12 September 2014, in San Francisco, USA. This conference is a reference in the sustainable watershed management field and this year had a special focus on emerging issues related to climate change.

This kind of event gives young scientists the opportunity to show their results to a specialist audience with a great deal of professional experience and get good feedback from them.
