Sheffield Archaeology Student Wins University Prize Scholarship
We are delighted to announce that Sofia Tecce has been awarded a prestigious University Prize Scholarship.
Sofia will be working on a project entitled "The origins and evolution of pig domestication in Italy: a regional and diachronic study". She will be supervised by Umberto Albarella, while Gianna Ayala will act as co-supervisor.
Sofia obtained her first degree in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she had her initial training in zooarchaeology. She later moved to Britain to study a MSc in Osteorchaeology, which she completed with distinction.
Since completing her MSc course in 2013, Sofia has been an integral member on the zooarchaeology team at the Department of Archaeology, and has continued working on various Sheffield-based projects in collaboration with other team members.
The scholarship provides her with a great opportunity to advance her career and research interest and the department is looking forward to having her with us for the next three years.
