The Anatomical Society recently awarded their Best Image prize to Emily Noël and Juliana Sanchez Posada for their image entitled ‘Developing Zebrafish Heart’.

The Society invite members to submit images that are then judged by the Website, Media and Communications Committee. The Best Image prize is awarded twice a year.

The winning entry is a live light sheet image of the heart and connecting vasculature of a 3-day old zebrafish embryo.

Tissue-specific transgenic lines allow visualisation of actin in the myocardial (green) and endocardial (magenta) cells of the heart, providing highly detailed 3D reconstructions of cardiac morphogenesis.
