Why are our buildings still single use?

Charles Gillot, a PhD Student in our Department has been talking to The Conversation about the problems we face in decarbonising the Built Environment and what actions we need to enable this.

The UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) announced a new roadmap to address construction’s carbon emissions at the UN climate summit COP26 this week. This included calls for more reuse of existing buildings as opposed to building new ones.

With the recognised importance of sustainability, Charles asks why we have reusable cups, bags and bottles but single use buildings!
