Grand Challenge for Water
The EPSRC-funded Grand Challenge Centre for Water, comprising 6 UK universities and 100+ industrial partners working in collaboration to develop the sustainable water solutions of the future and to accelerate innovation uptake across the water sector.

Research themes are exploring disruptive innovation for the future of water systems, including novel point-of-need treatment options at different scales, water/energy synergies incorporating renewable energy at neighbourhood scale, autonomous robotic pipe inspection systems, dual-purpose rainwater harvesting and surface water management, real-time water quality monitoring for drinking water treatability in catchments, customer mobilisation to deliver water benefits, collaboration for innovation, and futures thinking approaches. This research is integrated within a collaborative open innovation framework, the TWENTY65 Water Innovation Hub, to spark creative solutions and accelerate uptake of innovation across the entire water sector.
