Investigating potable water distribution networks and consumer demand for systems subjected to low pressures and intermittent supply

A collaborative project for research and knowledge-sharing between industry and academia counterparts at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and University of Sheffield.

We are extending global research into prevalence and occurrence of intermittent water supply (IWS) to South African systems to quantify the causes and impacts of water supply not meeting design criteria. A combination of field measurement, hydraulic modelling, and laboratory work will explore the behaviour of water distribution systems subjected very low pressures and/or IWS.
