GRAND slammers crowned campus champions!

The GRAND Slammers, the school's social netball team, have achieved a remarkable double victory, winning both the social netball league title and the post-season tournament championship.

Netball team

Following the formation of the School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering, the GRAND society wanted to strengthen community spirit between the newly merged departments. One of their initiatives was to establish two social sports teams: netball and football.

Alex Webb, 3rd year PhD student and netball captain, said: "GRAND Slammers are so happy to have won the Campus netball league! We have played 15 matches since November to win our group and proceed to knockouts. Our winning streak continued to the final against History Soc. After a tough match, Zoe Ashcroft scored the winning goal in extra time! Thank you to the whole team who’ve played across the season and everyone who came to support us along the way! We’ve had so much fun and look forward to defending our victory next year."

The victory of the GRAND Slammers highlights the positive impact of GRAND's initiative to promote community through sports. Their success is a source of pride for the school, and the team is already looking forward to defending their hard-earned title next season.
