Writers Susan Elliot Wright and Paul Adam are available during term-time to advise, on a one-to-one basis, students and staff on any aspects of their writing. Whether it's essays, reports, dissertations or other written work, Susan and Paul offer constructive tutorials of up to an hour about any aspect of your writing that you want to discuss.

Susan is the bestselling author of four novels, most recently The Flight of Cornelia Blackwood (Simon & Schuster, 2019). Her work has been shortlisted and longlisted for various prizes. Before turning to fiction, she worked in journalism, writing hundreds of features for women’s magazines. She has also written ten non-fiction books on health-related topics.
As well as being a novelist, Susan is an experienced Creative Writing tutor and mentor with an eclectic mix of past experience – previous jobs include civil servant, cake decorator, market researcher, FE English tutor, chef, and magazine journalist. She gained her BA in English and her MA in Writing as a mature student.
She is passionate about helping others to develop and hone their writing skills, so if you’re struggling with your writing, whether in terms of clarity, structure, grammar or something you’ve not yet identified, she’ll be available on Mondays and Tuesdays to provide one-to-one guidance and advice.

Paul Adam has written thirteen novels for adults and an award-winning trilogy for children. His books have been published around the world and translated into several languages, including French, Portuguese, Czech, Dutch and Japanese. He has also written television and film scripts.
Paul began his career as a journalist and has worked for newspapers in the UK and in Italy. He has a Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults and is experienced in teaching students whose first language isn’t English.
He has always had an interest in clear, concise, informative writing and is looking forward to helping students at Sheffield with their written work.
