The MA in Food Security and Food Justice in the Department of Geography is pleased to announce the third of our Food Do-ers series events. This time we are having a panel discussion with Tessa, Cat and Kate who will talk about their experiences as Food Do-ers and the year of Swadlincote Waste less/Save More.
From January to December 2016 Swadlincote in S. Derbyshire offered itself to become a test-bed to explore ways to reduce household food-waste. Over the course of the year 20 different forms of intervention were trialed, including community refrigerators, food-sharing apps, and cookery workshops. We've invited Tessa and Cat, from Hubbub, and Kate Allies, from South Derbyshire District Council (and a Sheffield Geography alumna) to come talk to us about the Swadlincote project and their involvement in it. Each of the speakers will also provide a short intro into how they came to become Food Do-ers. More information about the Swadlincote project can be found on the Sainsbury's Swadlincote website.
