imageFormer Head of Department, Stan Gregory, died last month and an obituary has been published in the Times Higher Education. Stan came to Sheffield in 1968 as Professor of Geography, serving as Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Pro Vice-Chancellor before he retired in 1988. During his career, he took a leading role in the Institute of British Geographers and was President of the Geographical Association. He was a champion of the ‘quantitative revolution’ and published a landmark textbook: Statistical Methods and the Geographer (1963 and many subsequent editions). Our sympathies are extended to his family and friends.
