Profile

Joe Hook is a PhD researcher in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering. His work is focussed on understanding the future of urban water systems in the context of climate change and urbanisation. He is particularly interested in the potential of alternative water systems to provide opportunities and challenges to cities, and their residents. He works with Engineers Without Borders in Sheffield and has experience of development projects in Nigeria and Bangladesh, working on awareness raising for HIV/AIDS issues and on providing flood resilient housing for rural communities. He received an MEng from the University of Sheffield in Civil Engineering in 2017.
