iHuman in Singapore No.2

Dan Goodley represented iHuman at two high profile events held at Enabling Village in Singapore today; 12th February 2019.

Wayfinding pole

The first workshop Disability Dialogues brought together practitioners from a host of professions to explore innovative methods for promoting self-advocacy, supportive employment and community participation in the lives of people with learning disabilities. Drawing on findings from an ESRC Big Society project Dan explored the ground-breaking practices of circles of support, Speakup Self-advocacy Rotherham and Mutually Inclusive.

The second session – a panel on Disability Advocacy – organised by Disabled People’s Association of Singapore was kicked off by Dan’s keynote that revealed key theoretical provocations raised from a current ESRC project that includes co-researchers who are disabled young people with life-limiting and life-threatening impairments.

Dan then joined a panel for Q&A with advocates from the Deaf, disability, Autistic and Blind communities who were questioned by an audience of 60 people.
