University Petra Malaysia

Dan Goodley visited the Fakulti Ekologi Manusia, Universiti Putra Malaysia on the 5th April 2019 to share thoughts on global developments in disability studies theory. Dan was joined by colleagues including Dr. Wan Arnidawati binti Wan Abdullah to discuss the ways in which academic research and theory can be applied in the Malaysian and UK contexts. Dan said ‘It was a pleasure to reconnect with old friends including Dr Nida and to thrash out the applications of critical disability studies in our national contexts and, crucially, across borders’. Dan is in Malaysia with Katherine Runswick-Cole and Keith Bates (Mutually Inclusive) to track the impact of research on the self-advocacy and supportive employment on the lives of people with learning disabilities. This work drew upon an ESRC Funded project.
