Profile

Anna is a PhD student at Durham University School of Education. Her project is ESRC-funded via NINE DTP. It explores educational experiences with her participants via a socio-ecological and intersectional lens. To do so, it attempts to democratise the research process by developing WITH children and young people who have a vision impairment a participatory action research model that positions children as knowledge producers and collaborators. It focuses on building trust and establishing relationships to create positive and productive conditions for collaboration.

She is interested in utilising Critical Disability Studies theory to understand educational inclusion. Prior to starting her PhD, Anna spent 14 years as a teacher, the last 7 of which have been as a Qualified Teacher of Pupils with a Vision Impairment (QTVI). She lives in Sheffield.
