The latest possible start date is 21 October 2024. You must complete your registration before you can attend your course. In some instances, registration may take several days to complete so you should allow adequate time to register in advance of the latest possible start date in case of any delays.

Timetables

Your timetable is available online from the 9th September. Most students use the iSheffield app to access their timetable. Most modules will have a lecture (with all students in a room together at the same time), and a seminar (students split into smaller groups for an interactive learning session).

There could be a few reasons why your timetable doesn't look busy:

  • Not every module has sessions every week.
  • Some modules don't have any timetabled sessions until week two.
  • EAS6078 Project and EAS404 Business Project won't have any timetabled sessions until later in the semester and these don’t run weekly.
  • Some modules publish sessions on Blackboard rather than timetable.
  • If a student just picked a module, it won't show on their timetable until the following day (Timetabling system updates overnight like Blackboard).

Module information

Postgraduate module information is available on our Google site. Please note you must log into your University account to access the information.

If you change your mind about your choice, don't worry! At the start of each semester, there is a three week window where you can make amendments to any of your optional modules called the add/drop period.

The add/drop system opens on Monday 23 September 2024 at 9am and will run until Friday 11 October 2024 at 5pm, and again at the beginning of Spring semester.

Parent/child modules

Some modules run in both 30-credit and 15-credit versions. These have identical content and teaching hours, but different workload and assessment. You can't take both the 30-credit and 15-credit versions of the same module, and the two versions will normally appear on blackboard together under one title. The modules in question are

  • EAS6149 and EAS6158 Media and Public Communication in Japan
  • EAS6226 and EAS6227 Business and the Economy of Japan
  • EAS6353 and EAS6453 Contemporary Chinese Society and Media/ State and Society in China
  • EAS680 and EAS6143 State and Economy in Contemporary China/Political Economy of China

Modules missing on Blackboard

When a student switches between parent/child versions of the same module, the system sometimes gets confused and will block the student on the Blackboard. If you do not think that you have the correct Autumn semester modules on your Blackboard course list, please contact seas@sheffield.ac.uk.
