The Carbon Business Council publishes its new Enhanced Rock Weathering primer, and the Enhanced Weathering Alliance launches

The Carbon Business Council publishes its new Enhanced Rock Weathering primer, in tandem with the launch of the Enhanced Weathering Alliance. Our Director, Prof David Beerling, has advised on this exciting new policy primer.

The primer, published by the Carbon Business Council, a non-profit trade association of more than 100 carbon management companies, highlights the state of the market and the significant deployment opportunities for enhanced weathering. Our Director, Prof David Beerling, is honoured to have acted as an advisor and observer for the primer. The primer aims to:

  • highlight the outsized potential role of Enhanced Weathering  to be one of the most effective carbon dioxide removal approaches
  • explain why Enhanced Weathering holds the promise of offering substantial agronomic and economic co-benefits to farmers
  • offer a set of focused recommendations for policymakers and other ecosystem stakeholders to responsibly accelerate the advancement of Enhanced Weathering

The new Enhanced Weathering Alliance, which has also just launched and for which the Carbon Business Council will act as secretariat, brings together top-tier companies in the pursuit of advancing enhanced weathering for carbon removal, and advocates for policy that helps intensify and accelerate carbon removal deployment, to speed up and step up EW's contribution to Europe's ambitious climate targets.
