Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship
We are pleased to welcome Dr Deepak Rajendra Unune to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. He will be working in the Insigneo Institute for In Silico Medicine.
Dr Unune's research will investigate the role of electrical discharge machining process for favourable implant surface modifications to ensure the long-term survival of orthopaedic implants. The multidisciplinary project EDiMplant will be supervised by Dr Gwendolen Reilly, Dr Frederik Claeyssens, Dr Russell Goodall, and Dr Joanna Shepherd.
He obtained his PhD in area of Manufacturing Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, India in 2016. In his PhD work, he demonstrated the application and benefits of hybrid electrical discharge machining processes in fabrication of micro-features. Since 2016, he has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical-Mechatronics Engineering at The LNM Institute of Information Technology, Jaipur conducting research in the area of advanced manufacturing processes.
