For University of Sheffield researchers

If you are currently a registered user of the Materials Science and Engineering Electron Microscopy facility, you will be able to access the Department's facility booking system here.

For new researchers

University of Sheffield academics, Post-Doctoral or PhD researchers who wish to register to become a user of the facility can do so here by submitting a New User Application Request.

For external academic researchers

The Sorby Centre offers a range of services to external industrial clients from one-off projects to comprehensive long-term consultancy packages.

Who was Sir Harry Kroto?

We are based in the Kroto Research Institute building, named after Nobel Prize winning chemist, and University of Sheffield alumni, Sir Harry Kroto.
