I obtained my Medical degree from the University of Sheffield in 2006.

After my general medical training I obtained an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (2012). I successfully competed for and completed a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship (2014-2017) under the supervision of David Dockrell Mark Dickman (University of Sheffield).

I later re-joined the University of Sheffield in 2018 as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Specialist Registrar in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology.

Research interests

My research interests are the role of epigenetics in host-pathogen interactions. In particular studying the interaction between the innate immune system and gram positive organisms such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus.

In collaboration with Prof Mark Dickman (Chemical and biological engineering) I have used Mass Spectrometry to study histone posttranslational modifications, as well as label free proteomics. I have also used Next Generation Sequencing to perform ChIP-seq and RNA-seq.
