Welcome to The Medical School
Studying at Sheffield will mean you become part of The Medical School, located next to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). You will quickly become familiar with this building as it's the hub for meeting academic staff. You'll attend a variety of lectures, study in the Health Sciences Library and relax with friends in Cafe 1828.
Main entrance and reception
As you enter The Medical School, there is a welcoming reception area where you can ask about any course related query and submit your assessments. Thereafter, there is a foyer area with sofas to socialise and have informal meetings.
Turn right from the main reception area and you'll find yourself in Cafe 1828 where you can enjoy a range of hot and cold drinks and snacks throughout the day. The ideal place to meet with your course mates to relax, socialise or even revise!
Health Sciences Library
Go through the cafe and you'll enter our dedicated Health Sciences Library. As a well as being a quiet study area away from the hustle and bustle of the cafe, you'll have access to a wide range of specialist literature to support your studies, research and practice.
Downstairs, you'll find two large lecture theatres where you can expect to have some of your lectures. In addition to lectures you'll also do group work and smaller study classes called seminars in seminar rooms located nearby to the lecture theaters. The MedSoc Office is also located close to the lecture theatres and seminar rooms, making it easy to get involved in this popular student society.
