Postgraduate Study Opportunities

The Department of Oncology & Metabolism, as part of a Russell Group University, has a strong commitment to research led teaching and is able to offer students a unique learning experience with access to state of the art research equipment and the opportunity to work alongside internationally recognized scientists and clinicians.

PhD Research Degrees

Graduates with, or who expect to receive either a first class, or upper second class degree, or who already have a Master's qualification in a suitable subject are eligible to apply on PhD programmes within the Medical School. These are degrees by research and offer you the chance to make a unique contribution to your selected field of study.

MD Research Degrees

There has been a long history of excellence in relation to the research performed leading to an MD Degree from the University of Sheffield. Strong collaborative links exist between the Medical School and the major local NHS partners: The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and local Associate Teaching hospitals.
