Dr Stephen Allen, Lecturer in Organisation Studies, and Dr Emanuela Girei, now of Liverpool Business School, have published an article in the top ranked journal for management learning and education. The article titled 'Developing Decolonial Reflexivity: Decolonizing Management Education by Confronting White Skin, White Identities, and Whiteness' features in the prestigious Academy of Management Learning & Education.

The article examines the potential contribution that white academics based at a Western institution might offer to decolonizing Management and Organizational Knowledge (MOK). Furthermore, it considers how racial hierarchies underpin Management and Organizational Knowledge and shape existing privileges which are embedded in UK higher education institutions.

Stephen commented: 'I am delighted we have published this article on a really important topic in this prestigious journal, I hope that it helps to stimulate debate and stronger engagement with issues of race, whiteness and white privilege in management and business schools'. Decolonising management and organisational knowledge is a significant challenge for management and business schools. This article makes an important contribution for how (white) academics can engage in progressing on decolonising.

The research behind the article was supported with stimulation funding by the University of Sheffield.
