The Department of Philosophy at the University of Sheffield has been ranked among the top 100 institutions in the world and 11th in the UK for Philosophical studies, according to the QS World rankings by subject, 2022.

We are pleased to announce that the Department of Philosophy has been listed amongst the top 100 institutions in the world for research and teaching in philosophy, according to the QS World rankings by subject, 2022. The results also place the Department 11th in the UK.

The QS World University Rankings by subject rank the world’s top universities in 48 individual subject areas. Evaluating over 1,200 universities across 78 countries, subject rankings are compiled using insight from academics, employers and citations from academic papers.

The latest league table results reaffirm our position as a world-leading department for the study of Philosophy and as one of the top Departments in the UK.
