Professor Miranda Fricker appointed to government’s Spoliation Panel
The Panel is appointed by Edward Vaizey MP, Minister of State for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries.
Miranda is known for her research in moral philosophy, and social epistemology, including issues of gender and race. She is currently working on a book in moral philosophy 'Explaining Blame and Forgiveness'. She succeeds Baroness Mary Warnock in the role of moral philosopher on the Spoliation Panel.
The panel considers both legal and non-legal obligations, such as the moral strength of the claimant’s case, and whether any moral obligation rests on the holding institution.
It now has two Chairs: The Hon. Sir Donnell Deeny, Presiding Judge of the High Court of Justice in Northern Ireland, and former Chairman of the NI Arts Council; and Rt Hon. Sir Alan Moses, former Lord Justice of Appeal and Chairman of the Independent Press Standards Organisation.
