SEAS Turns 60 Years Old

We are delighted to be celebrating the School of East Asian Studies turning 60 this year, read more about how we're celebrating this incredible milestone.

PhD Study

We are absolutely delighted to announce that this year the School of East Asian Studies is turning 60!

The School of East Asian Studies will have 60 years of experience researching contemporary East Asia and pioneering new methods for teaching East Asian Languages.

The School has since then grown exponentially, not only in size, having moved from Sherwood Road to Jessop West, but also in staff and in influence! We currently have partnerships with over 30 universities in East Asia and our field of research includes various subjects expanding from anthropology to film studies in contemporary East Asia.

Last year, SEAS was voted number one in the Russell Group for Asian Studies, this would have not been possible without our amazing hardworking staff and our dedicated students. This merit is an award to everyone that makes up the School.

In celebration of the School of East Asian Studies turning 60 years old, we will be holding events through-out the year whilst also sharing some of the amazing research that our academics are leading on, make sure to catch up on our Research in Under 60 Seconds video series.

Students have produced some outstanding work in all levels of study and the wonderful work of our student representatives means we have managed to develop and consider loads of new ideas and suggestions. Notable events the school and students have taken part in include the Korean Video Contest, the Employment and Employability Fair, Go East Week and Korea Day. Thanks to all staff and students who have worked to organise all the amazing events! Congratulations to all our undergraduate and postgraduate students graduating this year and we will miss you and wish you the best in your future endeavours and please do keep in touch!"
