I trained in medicine at Cambridge and Oxford, and joined the University of Sheffield in 2008 as an Academic Clinical Fellow.

Following an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship, an NIHR Clinical Lectureship and a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Development Fellowship I am now an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist and Academic Training Lead at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and Professor of Cardiology at the University of Sheffield.

Research interests

Our translational studies have developed new drugs and devices that now have regulatory approvals and established reimbursement. Our current work focuses on the pathology and physiology of pulmonary hypertension and heart failure, and the development of novel therapeutic strategies, clinical trial methodologies and remote clinical evaluation. Fellows and students working with the group have been awarded national and international awards, and gained external funding for their research.
