MUSE for offer-holders

Undergraduates in a tutorial

As part of our extended community, if you're holding a University of Sheffield offer you're entitled to access the members area of our website, MUSE – My University of Sheffield Environment.

Using MUSE is the easiest way to book to attend departmental open days, apply for University accommodation (available from March), apply for scholarships and, when the time comes, complete pre-registration tasks.

If you go on to register as a student at the University, you’ll continue to use MUSE to download course materials, manage your student record and access University services. And you’ll still be able to use MUSE after you’ve graduated.

Accessing MUSE

To access MUSE you need to set up your University account. After we've issued your offer, we'll send you an email from UniversityAccountSetup@sheffield.ac.uk containing your username and inviting you to activate your account by following the instructions in our account activation site:

Account activation

Please contact us by emailing UniversityAccountSetup@sheffield.ac.uk if you haven't been invited to access MUSE within three working days of receiving your offer.

When you’ve activated your account you can access MUSE at any time simply by clicking ‘Log in to MUSE’ in the black bar along the top of any sheffield.ac.uk webpage.

Problems accessing MUSE

If you have a problem setting up your account or accessing MUSE, the following frequently asked questions may help you.

The system won't let me create a password

Please ensure that when you choose your password, it fits the following criteria:

  • It should be between 6 and 15 characters long
  • It should include at least one of each of the following types of character: lower case letters; upper case letters; numbers; and punctuation.

I've set up my University username/login but it isn't working

Please go to our Problems Logging In page.

I'm not sure if I've created my account successfully

If you've created an account you should have received an email to your preferred email address containing your username and password.

I've lost my log-in details

Please go to our Problems Logging In page.

I've entered an incorrect address as my preferred email address

Please email commsenquiries@sheffield.ac.uk including your full name, UCAS ID/applicant number, the incorrect email address and the one you would like it changing to. We can then update the system for you.

I've previously studied at the University. Do I need to set up a new account?

Yes. Your existing/old account will remain active until you've completed your original course, but while you're holding an offer for a new course you'll also need access to the applicants view of MUSE. Therefore you'll need a new username and password for that.

How can I access my Registration timetable through MUSE?

If you are beginning your course in September/October, you can access your personalised Registration timetable from 1 September. This will be added to your University of Sheffield Google Calendar, which will appear in the My Services menu accessible at the top of University webpages. The timetable will show your University welcome meeting and other central registration events, as well as any registration events taking place within your academic department. The timetable will also be included in the iSheffield app.
