How to apply
To apply for your PhD, complete a formal application using the University of Sheffield's online application form.
We have several funding and scholarship options available for those interested in applying for postgraduate research, provided both from the Department of Archaeology and from external organisations.
Those who have already accepted a PhD offer from our department can also apply for financial support from the White Rose College of Arts & Humanities.
The Department of Archaeology will cease to be a stand-alone administrative unit from September 2024, at which point its staff will move into the Department of History or the School of Biosciences.
Postgraduate research students will then accompany their supervisor/s to the appropriate cognate department.
