The Department of Archaeology invites applications from prospective PhD students for the WRoCAH Open Competition Studentships. This requires students to apply for a place in the department first and have an offer in hand, and to subsequently apply for the WRoCAH Open Competition Studentship.

It is important that you approach a potential supervisor and work with them in completing your application. Find details of our staff and their research interests here.

While the final closing deadline for ALL funding applications to be submitted to WRoCAH is 5pm GMT on Wednesday, 29th January 2020, we have an internal deadline of 5pm GMT on Friday6th December 2019 for funding applications to be submitted to the department (via u.albarella@sheffield.ac.uk) to be internally reviewed.  We offer this as an opportunity to give you advice which may strengthen your application. You can still apply for funding without having gone through the internal review process, but this is not recommended.  You will still be expected to submit a fully revised and completed funding application to the funding body at a date specified by them.

For more information about the process and the Department of Archaeology please contact Umberto Albarella, u.albarella@sheffield.ac.uk.
