Join our Internship Accelerator Programme to take part in dedicated internship preparation activities, receive tailored advice and guidance, and get support to apply for internships in China.

The Internship Accelerator Programme will take place during the first year of your undergraduate degree. You will take part in activities to help you develop the skills and knowledge required to find and secure an internship during your studies - whether in the UK, China, or elsewhere in the world.

Workshop topics include:

  • Insights into the UK labour market
  • Insights into the China labour market
  • How to make great applications
  • How to succeed at interviews
  • How to make the most of your internship

Plus you will gain an early introduction to our skills tool “mySkills” and access to personalised advice and guidance from our employability advisers.

During the Internship Accelerator Programme you can apply to work with a specialist Chinese employability coach to access and apply for an exclusive 8 week internship in China. These paid internships will take place in summer 2026, and there are 50 places available.

To be eligible for the Internship Accelerator Programme, you must:

  • Confirm Sheffield as your firm choice in UCAS by 4 June 2025
  • Be a Chinese national

In addition, to gain access to the summer internships in China, you must:

  • Participate in all mandatory workshops in the programme
  • Apply for Chinese employability coaching via a competitive process - including application form and assessment task
  • Engage with coaching ahead of, during and following the internship
  • Complete a written reflection following the internship

50 supported internships are available in summer 2026 but you can continue to access support from the Careers & Employability Service throughout your studies to help secure future internships and placements.
