Chemical Engineering offer holder days
As part of your offer holder day at Sheffield, you'll be spending some quality time getting to know the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and your chosen course.

Arriving at the department
You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12:30pm or 2pm to 4.30pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.
Your arrival location is: The Diamond, Lecture Theatre 9. You can view this on our interactive campus map, and there will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.
If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.
When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at the department activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department will be unable to accommodate any additional unbooked visitors.
However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.

Activities
You'll take part in two activities related to your chosen course to give you a real taste of what it's like to be a student at Sheffield.
We run a range of activities on our applicant days and the below examples will give you an insight into what you could be doing on the day.
Lab Activity
You'll undertake a hands-on activity in one of our well-equipped undergraduate teaching laboratories. Putting what you learn into practice is a key element of the course here at Sheffield and this will give a flavour of that, interacting with our technical teaching staff and current undergraduate students.
ChemEng Challenge
Design is at the heart of chemical engineering. In the ChemEng Challenge you'll work in teams to find out what this means, designing a chemical process from individual unit operations. The ChemEng Challenge also allows us to see how you tackle problem-solving - allowing us to give fuller consideration to your application, beyond your results and personal statement, should your grades fall slightly below your offer.
Parents and supporters tour
While you are taking part in activities, parents/supporters will receive a tour of the school and our facilities. They'll also get a chance to speak to current students and staff about the exciting opportunities that are available to you and where a degree from Sheffield can lead.
Science and Engineering Foundation Year
If you are holding an offer for one our courses with Foundation Year, you should book your 2.5 hour visit with us as normal, but then also make a point to attend our Science and Engineering Foundation Year talk will run 1pm-1.30pm in Diamond Lecture Theatre 9, on the second floor of the Diamond building.
No pre-booking is required for this SEFY talk, but all foundation-year offer holders and anyone else interested in finding out more about the Foundation Year are strongly encouraged to attend.
