BSc Computer Science
Samuel was attracted to Sheffield by the amazing facilities and the links the Department has with industry.

Why did you choose to study at Sheffield?

The course looked like the right mix for me and the links with the industry could act as a platform to gain experience right away.

Why did you choose to study Computer Science?

I've been into computer science and all the cool technology since I was about 13 when I built my first PC with my dad which I still use to this day. From there I went on to build robots and enter the cipher challenge so the choice was instant and almost implied for me.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

The way it's built to be accessible from all the many levels that may be joining, the Devices and Networks module was taught to a depth that made it new to me but also didn't jump too far ahead for those just encountering the principles.

What do you like best about Sheffield and the University?

The facilities are amazing, having access to the diamond with the iForge is an amazing tool to utilise.

Do you have any plans for after you graduate?

Not particularly, the field changes too quickly to have a set plan at this point. The main thing is that it's something where important advancements are being made.
