Back for a sixth year, Discovery Night opens the University’s laboratories and lecture theatres to the public for an evening of science for the whole family. There’ll be talks, exciting demonstrations and hands on activities from across science, engineering, medicine and dentistry.

Find out about everything from the magic of maths to the chemistry of sweets, tour the facilities, put on a lab coat and have a go yourself. Everyone is welcome and the event is free – no booking required.

If you're a member of the Children's University then bring along your CU passport to be stamped to earn your learning credits.

Join us in the Animal and Plant Sciences Labs to find out about our latest research. You'll be otter-ly amazed at the hidden world of local otters, egg-cited when you eggs-plore inside our eggs, and bug-eyed when you meet our bugs. Always hugely popular, there will be lots of different activities with plenty of hands on science for you to try. So grab a lab coat and join in the fun!

Explore! Science, Engineering and More at Sheffield Hallam

Saturday 16 March 2019, noon-4pm

Take part in a popular interactive family afternoon as part of Science Week @ Sheffield Hallam. This fantastic exhibition, delivered by staff and students, showcases research in biology, chemistry, forensic science, engineering and health at Sheffield Hallam. There will be plenty to capture the imagination of all ages from hands-on activities to demonstrations, crafts and competitions. Throughout the day we will also be giving mini talks in the Pennine lecture theatre which are fun and accessible for all ages.
