Study with us

Students come from all over the world to study science subjects at Sheffield. Active researchers and dedicated teachers staff support our students' learning, from giving fascinating undergraduate lectures and leading small group teaching, to guiding original research with our talented postgraduate community.

Most science degrees are based in one of our seven academic departments. Choose a level of study below and find out about the range of options available across the disciplines we cover.

Undergraduate study

Our seven departments offer dozens of three- and four-year undergraduate courses between them. Teaching is informed by the latest research and students get to complete their own research projects. They can also study abroad or take industry placements, and there is lots of practical advice to get careers off to a great start.

Masters courses

Our programme of MSc and MRes degrees are research focussed, embedding students with advanced laboratory techniques or other specialist knowledge that employers are looking for. Most masters courses are completed within a year, but there are part-time and distance learning options available in some departments.
