Rorie Parsons is a Geographer with a research focus that is concerned with issues of sustainability and understanding social change.
Particular interests involve a focus on everyday life, including mobility practices. He also has expertise in historical and archival research.
Rorie joined the department as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in 2019 as part of the Plastics: Redefining Single-Use project.
He gained a BA in Geography from the University of Hull. This led to an ESRC funded Masters in Planning and Environment Research and PhD at Newcastle University’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (2013-2018).

I am a Post-Doctoral Research Associate on a major interdisciplinary project, exploring social and technical solutions to the challenges of plastics.
My role within the team will help to better understand the role of single-use plastics in everyday life and its importance in today’s society.
