Gloss Research Associate

Launch of GLOSS Research Associate scheme

The GLOSS team are delighted to announce the launch of the new GLOSS Research Associate scheme. The scheme will sit alongside SIDshare and the Global Leadership Initiative as one of the three pre-eminent GLOSS initiatives situated in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield.

Through the GLOSS R-A scheme, Global Learning Opportunities in the Social Sciences (GLOSS) offers funded opportunities for Faculty of Social Sciences undergraduate students to work as a GLOSS Research Associate during part of the summer vacation. Undergraduate students from any of the Faculty's departments and who are not in their first or final years of study are eligible to apply.

Students will work in partnership with an academic member of staff whose research interests align with theirs to produce an inspired piece of international research which allows them to develop their academic interests whilst working in an international setting.

Staff are also eligible to apply for funding to visit the students in the field abroad, whilst they are conducting their fieldwork.

The GLOSS Research Associate scheme represents an opportunity for staff and students to work together in collaboration to produce vibrant and exciting projects, as well as enabling students to develop transferable skills which are of interest to employers and for improving prospects for further study. Alongside the development of professional and personal skills, both students and staff have the opportunity to travel and immerse themselves in the field.

We are now welcoming applications for the GLOSS Research Associates scheme, and would encourage students or staff who are interested to consult the GLOSS Research Associate website for further information, or to access the Application Form and Guidance Notes.
