Two key toolkits, for Gender Analysis in IT and Data Science, and for Gender-Just Co-Design in Digital Innovation, were launched recently.
The GeJuSTA project, funded by the Canadian International Development Research Centre, focuses on Gender-Justice in STEM subjects in Africa. In two online sessions, researchers from the University of Cape Town, Makerere University, and the University of Sheffield, as well as practitioners from WOUGNET (Women in Uganda Network) presented work developed together with women and women’s rights activists in South Africa and Uganda. One result are these conceptually advanced yet practical toolkits for researchers and practitioners. The aims of each of the toolkits are:
- To deepen their gender analysis and improve their understanding of the barriers women and other disadvantaged groups face when seeking to engage with digital innovation (Gender Analysis Toolkit).
- To engage women and other disadvantaged groups actively in the co-design on digital innovations (Gender-Just Co-Design Toolkit).
The toolkits are Open Access and freely available resources – they can be downloaded here.
