Decolonising Collaborative Systems: improving engagement in collaborative Q&A sites

Off

Technology developed by Western organizations carries culturally biased values that might not fit the way non-Western cultures engage with it and amplify the marginalization of people - including developers and users – creating narratives in which the North is seen as technologically superior. In an attempt to break these colonial patterns, this project seeks to understand how Brazilian developers understand and engage with collaborative platforms, and propose designs that reflect their practices and values more closely. This project is a collaboration with the University of Washington Paul G. Allen School of Computer Sciences & Engineering, Seattle, WA.
