Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions

Off

Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAEs) are sounds generated by the cochlea in response to two simultaneously presented pure tones (f₁ and f₂), reflecting nonlinear processes within the outer hair cells. In auditory research, DPOAE testing is used as a non-invasive and objective measure of outer hair cell function. We use DPOAEs to assess early signs of age-related hearing loss, monitor effects from noise exposure, track recovery following gene therapy and evaluate how genetic modifications impact outer hair cell function.
