Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions
Off
Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAEs) are sounds generated by the cochlea in response to two simultaneously presented pure tones (fâ and fâ), reflecting nonlinear processes within the outer hair cells. In auditory research, DPOAE testing is used as a non-invasive and objective measure of outer hair cell function. We use DPOAEs to assess early signs of age-related hearing loss, monitor effects from noise exposure, track recovery following gene therapy and evaluate how genetic modifications impact outer hair cell function.
