Quantitative PCR (qPCR) is a sensitive molecular technique used to measure the expression levels of specific genes across different samples. In our research, we use qPCR to quantify transcriptional changes within the cochlea under various experimental conditions, such as following noise exposure, during aging, or in genetically modified models.

This technique is especially useful because it enables us to detect subtle shifts in gene expression that may underlie changes in cellular function, vulnerability, or repair mechanisms. By linking these molecular changes to physiological and behavioral outcomes, qPCR helps us identify key genes and pathways involved in hearing loss and provides a foundation for developing targeted interventions.
