I enjoy the range of topics on offer, knowing I am not stuck doing a module I don't enjoy, the freedom of choice is great!

Why did you choose to study at Sheffield?

I wanted to be in a city in the North of England, and Sheffield was the best combination of course and environment. I loved the appeal of the city, especially how green it was.

Has your experience so far been what you expected?

The teaching experience and support at Sheffield has been great at developing my understanding of history and politics. I have had a great time the last two years I've been here!

What do you particularly enjoy about your degree programme?

I enjoy the range of topics on offer, knowing I am not stuck doing a module I don't enjoy, the freedom of choice is great!

What modules are you studying this year? Are there any modules that you have particularly enjoyed during your degree so far and why?

This year I really enjoyed studying the medieval inquisition. It was fascinating to look at the wide and varied sources that still exist on the period - was also great to learn about the departments involvement in translating the sources, and learn more about Sheffield's involvement in the overall field of history!

If you're a dual student, what do you enjoy about doing a dual degree?

I enjoy the crossover that exists between history and politics. Whilst as subjects they require different approaches, a lot of the theories and context carries over which is helpful.

What do you like about the University/living in Sheffield?

There is a very strong community of students at Sheffield whether you are in first year or last, it is so easy to meet new people here!

Would you recommend studying at Sheffield to a friend?

Absolutely, both the university and the city have so much to offer I have loved the last two years I've been here!
