iHuman is driving work associated with the promotion of positive, inclusive and collaborative research culture. The Participatory Research Network at the University of Sheffield (PRN@TUoS) is an established cross-faculty network that supports participatory research and researchers. It's a space for all people, from any discipline or practice, to come together to:

  • enjoy and celebrate participatory research
  • learn from each other, and discuss the challenges and barriers to doing participatory research in academia
  • change and re-shape some of the University structures in which participatory research is embedded

Members of iHuman are also involved with the Wellcome Anti-ableist Research Culture (WAARC) project: A Wellcome Trust Institutional Funding for Research Culture Award which centres disability as the phenomenon through which to rethink positive research culture from recruitment, to working conditions, to research methods and dissemination.

How we understand being ‘human’ differs between disciplines and has changed radically over time. We are living in an age marked by rapid growth in knowledge about the human body and brain, and new technologies with the potential to change them.
