Winner of a Postgraduate Merit Scholarship
I came to this university leaving behind my dear parents and my friends. But I am truly enjoying myself and every bit of my study here at the University of Sheffield. Time just flies!

How did you first hear about your scholarship?

I came to know about the scholarship from the University representatives during the webinars hosted by my education consultants and through the university website.

On receiving the news that I was a recipient of this scholarship I felt absolutely thrilled and elated. I realised how blessed and fortunate I was. This scholarship reduced my liabilities and enabled me to move forward with my dream of pursuing my Master’s degree in the UK at a lower cost.

What made you choose to study at Sheffield and your course?

Whilst researching, I saw that The University of Sheffield was ranked 93rd in the 2021 QS World University Rankings. Likewise, Sheffield University Management School is one of the elite business schools, having achieved Triple Crown accreditation from the three major international accreditation bodies – AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA which corroborates the outstanding quality of the programs. Since the university has a global reputation for excellence, I felt that it will have a knock-on effect on my career and employability.

I had a brief stint of service in the corporate world. At that time I used to wonder how the management managed projects, decided timelines, and distributed the workforce to meet client deliverables. I wanted to know how they reviewed and improved the operations process, enabling us to be in the top picks of potential clients. I realized that having a management degree to my credential would broaden my knowledge of the business world. I felt that on completion of this course I would be able to apply managerial theory to the real world of business.

Hence, the University of Sheffield and the MSC Management (International Business) course was my first choice.

How did you research the University to find out about studying in Sheffield?

I would browse through the internet and attend webinars where various universities advised students on the courses that they offered.  This course of Masters in Management (International Business) offered by the University of Sheffield appealed to me and hence I selected it and applied for this course.

What are you enjoying about your first semester?

I came to this university leaving behind my dear parents and my friends. But I am truly enjoying myself and every bit of my study here at the University of Sheffield. Time just flies! I realised that coming here has given me the opportunity to meet new people from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds. Working on assignments alongside students from multinational backgrounds is appealing to me as I meet new people, make new friends and have experiences that I feel will have a positive impact on my life.

How has (or will) the scholarship benefit your studies?

Being awarded this scholarship has definitely reduced my liabilities which otherwise, would have been a cause of concern. The quantum of education loan that I have taken to pursue my master’s degree has reduced considerably. It has given me more time to focus on my studies without having to worry too much about my expenses.

What advice would you give to a student considering studying at the University of Sheffield?

I would tell any student considering studying at the University of Sheffield, that Sheffield it is a very student-friendly city. It is like being at home away from home!

Being a world leading university and a member of the prestigious Russell group makes one feel confident and proud to be a student of this prestigious university. I feel that a Sheffield University alum would be able to face the corporate world with a lot of confidence.

The University accommodation and the campus are in close proximity of each other allowing one to walk to campus, sometimes through even beautiful parks!

What do you hope to do in the future?

My motto is “Dream big and live big”.  I dream that I will get a super well-paid job  which will have a ripple effect on my personal mission of caring for the needs of the downtrodden. The job one does and one’s earnings should help the underprivileged. I would use a percentage of my income to help the needy; contributing to the mission of global prosperity and sustainability.

I  always want  to make a difference in the lives of the downtrodden. Many drops make a mighty ocean and I want to be that one drop that will make a difference in the life of the less fortunate people around me. I would also like to involve myself in social service and volunteer work, for caring for the needs of others and most importantly, the deprived members of society.
