When I first started researching universities, I was already aware of the University of Sheffield as I knew some people who studied here and I heard lots of positives about the University and the city. I read the prospectuses and visited during an open day where I saw the city and my department. I also came here on a separate occasion to visit the Peak District which I really enjoyed.

There are so many things that I love about living and studying in Sheffield. There would literally be too many to list, however some that stand out include the overall experience I have had with my course, the great societies and nightlife in Sheffield, the friends I have made here, the friendliness of the staff and the very affordable living costs. I initially had a great impression as all the staff and student ambassadors were so nice and helpful and I felt very welcome straight from the start. I really enjoy the clinical aspects of my course and being responsible for my own patients so early on in the course. I gain great satisfaction from helping people with their oral health and the very supportive staff and well-organised course makes the whole experience very pleasant.

I love Sheffield’s variety in what it has to offer with its many shops, clubs, parks, sports venues and festivals. I really think there is something here for everyone and that’s why I think it’s such a special place. There are many parks to visit which are great in the summer for a picnic. There is also the Peak District which has some spectacular views and is only about half an hour by bike. Also, there are also many pubs that organise free quizzes which are a fun way to spend free time. There are also events organised in the city ranging from Christmas markets to lots of different festivals to city mountain bike races.

To anyone that is considering studying here, I would definitely recommend the University and would urge you visit yourself as the vibrant, welcoming and very international atmosphere makes this university very unique. Make sure to contact your department with any questions and talk to the ambassadors here who will be very happy to answer any questions.
