Research in the Centre for Criminological Research
The Centre for Criminological Research conducts research of the highest international quality across many criminological disciplines. Members of the Centre often collaborate together to undertake major funded research projects of national and international importance. Strengths span both theoretical and applied work, contributing at the highest levels to criminological knowledge and policy development.
A wide variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods inform projects funded by the major research funding bodies, including the Economic and Social Research Council, the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice, the European Union and the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Throughout its activities, the Centre is concerned to combine theoretical insight with policy relevance; the analysis of research evidence with policy and practice; the international setting of criminology with locally based research; and the bringing together of academic criminologists with practitioners from criminal justice organisations.
